Rustic

Rustic

A little bit of ethnicity goes a long way. And since we’re talking about ethnic, I CANNOT be the only person who has noticed a massive bombarding of Indian prints in mainstream fashion! Dresses with Ikkat to combat the western Gingham, and embroideries with cute little Gujarati mirror work to trump the floral thread embroidery (courtesy Shein, Zaful etc). Not that I have anything against western trends. Y’all know I love my short skirts and cute lil’ dresses just as much as any other Jane Doe. But our Independence day and the upcoming Navratris/Durga Puja seems like as good a time as any to feel a little patriotic and appreciate (read obsess) with everything #MadeInIndia!

This beautiful and airy Monsoon apt dress from Anouk on Myntra is one of my favourite dresses these days. Aliasing as a kurta from time to time, this one is for the keeps! If you share my enthusiasm of all things Indo-Western wear, you’ll want to give Anouk’s clothes and collection of accessories a looksie! Here are some of my fav picks from their range –

Shrugs

Dresses ( /Kurtas) –

Palazzos ( /Smart Casual Trousers)

Oxidised Earrings

Dress From This Look

Coupled the dress with some personally curated accessories sourced via flea-markets from all around India. Talk about being authentically ethnic and patriotic! ; )
Come to think of it, you’ll even spot all of our tri-colours in the pictures. Totally unplanned though…I promise! : )

No better pairing than a shade of Rust with beautiful oxidised accessories, don’t you think?
A match made in heaven…all rustic everything!

  1. Hi,

I love your looks and particularly the makeup. Great work! Can you also share the makeup breakdown please? A lot of us dusky girls would benefit from your recommendations. Also could you possibly do a series on applying makeup? I struggle with pigmentation and an uneven skin tone and love how healthy and glowy your skin looks :-).

    Much love,
    V

    1. Hi Vidya

Thank you so much for your lovely feedback! On most days of shooting (especially hot & humid weather) , I keep my base makeup limited to a concealer (L’Oreal True Match for this look) under the eyes and a face compact powder all over (True Match Range). I’ve worn Maybelline Fit Me Blush in Medium Coral here to add just a little bit of colour. Apart from those, I’m a major fan of Maybelline Hyper Curl Waterproof Mascara and Lakme’s Insta liner so I use them 8/10 times 🙂
I’ll try to do a makeup post really soon, it’s been long overdue!
